WAVELENGHTS / BØLGELENGDER 2014

WAVELENGHTS is the winning proposal in a competition for art for the vestibule of Hurum Town Hall. The house also houses a concert hall.

The work is integrated in the laminated glass in the staircase between the vestibule and the concert hall. "Wavelengths" are clearly visible from the entire vestibile area, from outside and throughout the stairwell.

The title "Wavelengths" refers to the water element and proximity to the sea and pelvis. The wave motif is a metaphor for movement, coherence and dynamics. The term is used in the world of physics, such as sound waves and wavelengths on the light. The spectral colors that I have chosen have all different wavelengths. The colors cover the whole spectrum and symbolize the diversity of the audience and the activities of the house. The term wavelengths is often used for social relationships.

"Bølgelengder" er vinnerutkastet i en konkurranse om kunst til vestibylen for Hurum Rådhus. Huset rommer også en konsertsal, "Storsalen".

Verket er Integrert i det laminerte glasset i trappen mellom vestibylen og Storsalen. Glassfeltet er fullført opp til inngangen til Storsalen. er godt synlig fra hele vestibyleområdet, utenfra og i hele trapperommet.

Tittelen "Bølgelengder" viser til vannelementet og nærheten til sjøen og bekken. Bølgemotivet er en metafor for bevegelse, sammenheng og dynamikk. Begrepet er brukt i bilder på energi i fysikkens verden, som lydbølger og bølgelengder på lyset. Spektralfargene som jeg har valgt, har alle forskjellige bølgelengder. Fargene omfatter hele spekteret, og symboliserer mangfoldet hos publikum og aktivitetene i huset. Begrepet bølgelengder brukes gjerne om sosiale relasjoner - vi sier f.eks at vi er på bølgelengde med folk vi liker.
